In the early 1990s, the AIDS epidemic was rampant, with no cure in sight. Mostly ignored by the media and the general public, many severely ill patients in the end-stages of the disease were cast out by society, their family and friends. Chris Brownlie Hospice became a refuge for those in dire need of a place to die with dignity. As part of a public awareness campaign, I spent four weeks documenting some of the Hospice patients on their final journey. The resulting audiovisual presentation (two slide projectors synced to interviews and music) was shown in Germany and in the US and was used by the AIDS Healthcare Foundation as a fund raiser.
