This project was shot during a small rodeo in the town of Calistoga in the Napa Valley. It was also one of the last projects I shot on film, using my trusted Leica M3. I was in awe about the cowboys I met that day. One young man was badly hurt, which brought a sobering sense of reality on everyones face, but the show went on. At the time I was getting into digital photography (mid 90s) and started playing with Photoshop. I altered the images, adding some scratches and "faded boarders" to give the series a nostalgic look and feel.
