Steelhead fishing
There is a certain melancholy when it comes to steelhead fishing on the fly. Especially for those of us that mainly pursue steelhead using the swing method. There is a lot trial and error, searching and failure. It is not for the faint of heart and most people give up, going back to trusted techniques that produce fish more easily. It took me three years to finally land my first steelhead on the swing, but it was worth every minute of it. In this series I explore that melancholy, which often can turn into a zen like state of countless casts that flow like the water between our feet; and sometimes take us to the brink of insanity.
